Call for Artists: Public Art Mural “Thank You Frontline Workers!”
Are you a visual artist or do you know one looking to make a mark in the public realm?
With the support of the City of Toronto and BIA Office, Lakeshore Village BIA is looking for a mural artist for their project “Thank You Frontline Workers!” to be installed fall of 2021
This is an open, Toronto-wide competition for an artist able to execute a large-scale outdoor wall mural.
The Lakeshore Village BIA Board will select an artist to plan and execute a mural at 3001 Lake Shore Blvd. West. Submissions must take into consideration a budget of $5000 for the planning and execution of the mural, including unveiling event in coordination with the BIA.
The 2021 mural theme is “Thank You Frontline Workers!”. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, heroes like medical staff and essential workers were at the forefront of keeping the community at large safe and healthy. This mural should be a tribute to them and include the Canadian Flag, City of Toronto Flag and City of Toronto logo.
Eligibility: Open to any Toronto based professional artists with a connection to Lakeshore Blvd. W and Lakeshore Village.
Project Description: The mural should represent a call out to the Frontline workers of the COVID-19 pandemic. Including medical and emergency staff and essential workers like grocery store, restaurant, retail staff who have continued to work tirelessly throughout the pandemic.
June 1 Submissions Open
July 31 Submissions Close
August 1-31 Artist Development Period with consultation from the BIA
September 1- October 1 Mural Installation
October TBD – Unveiling Event (Based on Public Health Guidelines)
