Call for Artists: Lakeshore Village BIA Storefront Art Initiative

Are you a visual artist or do you know one who is looking to make a mark in the public realm?

With the support of the City of Toronto and BIA Office, Lakeshore Village BIA is looking for artists to participate in their Storefront Art Initiative: Remembering the Past as We Look to the Future.

This is an open, Toronto-wide call for artists, illustrators and designers. The Lakeshore Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board will select artists to create work that illustrates the potential future of the BIA, buildings and businesses chosen for the project. The BIA will digitally reproduce the artwork onto vinyl and install it on the outside of buildings. The resulting artwork will be curated in a street level display in combination with historical facts about the area.

Eligibility:  Open to any Toronto based professional artist with priority given to those with a connection to Lakeshore Blvd. W and Lakeshore Village.

Project Description:  The Lakeshore Village BIA is working to animate our storefronts! Artists/designers will be selected for participation and given notice of their assigned location. Artists are asked to creatively envision the potential (fantasy or reality) in their given storefront location that would enrich, enliven or animate the streetscape and the community. Their resulting artwork will be installed alongside the local history for curation of the work within the theme of “Remembering the Past as We Look to the Future”.  The selected artists will each receive $1000 (including HST) for their work and participation.
